.:: clinique rouge longtemps ::.
so. i won a quiz held by FD and Clinique (yaay!)
i’m totally psyched!
as soon as i had the chance to visit the mall, which was yesterday, i went to Clinique booth in Sogo to claim my prize, which was a Clinique lipstick, in my chosen shade!
you know that most of the times free gifts come in the most horrible shade you could ever imagine, so i’m so glad that this time i could choose my own shade.
after i got my hands full of swatches, i finally settled on long last soft shine lipstick, or rouge longtemps, in “tropical coral“.
it’s a really lovely shade. instead of coral, it appears mostly bright pink on my lips, with only a hint of orange. it doesn’t dry up my lips, instead moisturizes my lips very well. after some time, i didn’t even feel like wearing any lipstick at all. yet, it lives up to its claim and lasts all day long, even after some sorbet, i could still see the color on my lips. and still, my lips are still quite well moisturized.
packaging wise, i think the silver stripey case looks like something that a 30-something woman would bring in her purse. rather blah! so, it took some time to get used to. but since i’m really satisfied what’s inside it, i can cope with the packaging.
i learned that it retails at 180,000 IDR. worth every penny, if i may say.
all in all, i really love my new lipstick, and even tempted to run back to clinique and buy an orangey lipstick!

i’m so definitely going to buy some more so that i have a couple to choose from, and more importantly, i won’t be running out of these life-saver items. considering its fairly cheap price, and the fact that it comes in a stick, it’s very convenient to use for everyday life. i still love my ol’ good bourjois baume de nuite, but it comes in a jar, which means i need either a lip brush or my hand! which is not very convenient when i’m doing an outdoor activity. so chapstick is definitely a life-saver for me, and it’s worth every penny. and it does the job really well, it stands up to what it claims to be, and it does make my lips looking and feeling healthy, within seconds! i’ve tried the cherry flavour one, and am thinking of getting strawberry, apple, or flava craze. or maybe i should just go and buy all of them?
i am definitely hooked.

.:: rimmel london lipsticks, me likey ::.
so, here’s the story. a couple of weeks ago, i wandered around the city centre and, as usual, i went inside some drugstores. i was just wandering around the aisles of superdrug, when i saw that there was a 3 for 2 promo for all rimmel london products! yumm-o… i’ve swatched their lipsticks on the back of my hands several times before, and it seemed very creamy and moisturizing. and such an irresistable promo is not something i should could skip. rimmel london has three kinds of lipsticks – each of which has a very wide range of colours to choose from – lasting finish, rich moisture cream, and volume booster. i spent soooo much time at the booth, and swatched so many different colours on the back of my hands. i have to say, they offer quite a “delicious” range of colours. almost everything looks so pretty
nude, bright, dark colours, they have it all!! and i like most of them! so i found it hard to pick the best three that i wanted to buy. however, after spending some time thinking hard, i ended up with two lasting finish lipsticks and one volume booster lipstick :
left to right : flirt, coral in gold, asia
( sorry for my lack of skill in taking pics! )
flirt - i think it’s a lovely barbie pink colour. bright lippies is in trend now! and i’d love to jump in the hype head first. although i wouldn’t go as far as wearing a really really bright all-eyes-on-my-lips colour
anyway, flirt is not too shocking a pink that makes me wants to stay away from this lipstick. instead, it’s a nice flirty pink *just like the name suggest* which is bright, but quite decent for everyday use. okay, okay, weekend use
what i mean is, the colour is flattering, naughty but nice! however, flirt contains tiny particles of glitters *barely visible* so it may not suits you who doesn’t like glitters on your lips. BUT! i think the glitters are reall really small that you hardly notice them, it’s just perfect.
coral in gold - this is the first colour i chose to buy, and although it’s quite a pretty colour, i think it’s my least favourite of the three. i don’t hate it, i just love the other two more
it is an orangey lipstick with a hint of golden, and a frosty finish, which is not recommended for people with dry lips. i myself, is a person who has dry lips generally, if i’m being lazy applying lip balms over and over again. this lipstick tends to expose the crinkle on my lips, so i have to be take extra care of my lips before applying this. but the colour looks great when applied on well-moisturized lips, and if combined with bourjois lipgloss in beige theoric, it produces a natural look i would go for at most weekdays. i know the lipstick and lipgloss doesn’t really complement each other’s color, but that’s the only gloss i have in my makeup pouch, so i can only experiment with this gloss
asia - now this, i love! i heart this colour so very much. at first, i was hesitant, i was unsure whether i should get this colour or not, coz it looks a bit like my bourjois gloss at home. but i’m happy i did finally buy this one. it’s a very neutral brownish-pink colour, which is perfect for everyday use, really. and i was wrong, the colour is not similar to beige theoric. they are soulmates! if combined together, they create a very pretty lips. asian has a creamy texture, despite the fact that it’s a lasting finish lipstick. it doesn’t contain any glitter or shimmer or whatever, it gives just a creamy-matte look. and it doesn’t dry up my lips at all. granted, i try to take care of my lips *just in case, as a prevention* with my current HG lipbalm, bourjois baume de nuit, which i have reviewed previously.
overall, all three has great colours and textures and none of them really dry up my lips. i love these new babies, and would love to try some other colours, if i have the chance to. :D
maybe i’ll post some swatches later on.. just maybe!
.:: i’m currently lovin’ … ::.
personally, i find that looking for the right lip balm is like searching for a small pin in a huge pile of hays
though there is a wide selection that i can choose from, it’s not quite easy to find a perfect match for my super sensitive lips.
in my younger years, i used to wear vaseline petroleum jelly. i always brought a tube of it in my bag, and reapplied it whenever i felt like it. so when my lips started to turn their back on me, i automatically turned to this product for help. i bought a jar of petroleum jelly. but it seems that that product doesn’t do the magic for me. not anymore. i tried applying it at nights, to let the product do its work while i sleep. apparently, what used to be such an HG for me, won’t do the same trick anymore. it doesn’t improve the condition of my lips, it makes them worse! my previously dry lips now feels tight if i don’t apply a great amount of petroleum on them. not a good sign. nevertheless, i bought the one in the tube, which supposed to have a somewhat advanced formula (according to the label on the tube). no luck…
i was so desperate that i turned to TBS shea lip butter. note that i’ve never been a huge fan of TBS, for no particular reason
at first apply, i get sick of the smell. i sometimes use the shea body butter and that first time i felt like licking and swallowing the body butter, which of course is not a very nice thing to do! but after several times, i get used to it. but i’m also not pleased with this product. why, you may ask. first of all, of course the smell is not really pleasant. second, it has a certain colour, somewhat broken-white-ish, and it doesn’t flatter my lips at all. in fact, it makes me look like a corpse. so i certainly can’t use it in the morning
admittedly, it does a better job than vaseline. but it doesn’t help much. my lips was still dry whenever i didn’t apply the lip butter.

it’s not until last month that i get a chance to try bourjois baume de nuit, because it wasn’t yet available in indonesia. aawwh.. that’s too bad. i’ve seen it on the uk website, and been curious about it. but finally, i had the chance to try this product. there’s actually two kinds of lip balm. the one in the pink jar (baume ensoleille) is for day use, while the one in the blue one, which i bought, was for night use. and i love it, love it, love it! i finally find my HG! yaay… i’ve been using it routinely (at first) at nights and days, and it really does help improve my lips, and they’re now in a much better condition, even though i only apply it once in a while, when i feel like it
i think that they can do a better job about the very simple packaging. i don’t love the packaging. the sheer pink colour adds little colour to my lips and makes them look natural yet pretty. i generally use it as a base before applying lipstick on my lips. and it does a great job! it lives up to what it claims to, so i’m really happy with this. all in all, this is such a great product. or, at least for me it is! i’ve been thinking about buying another one, just so i won’t running out of it soon! but i haven’t made up my mind yet, because there are loads of balms in cute packaging, which is always a plus for me!

.:: one of the very best days of my life ::.
why i claim today as one of the very best days of my life?
it was only an ordinary saturday morning. i didn’t have anything particular to do, so i digged in my recipes and decided to make putu ayu. i quite enjoyed this kitchening activity, coz it’s been soooooooooo loooooooong since the last time i stepped in the kitchen and really make something
i think the last time i did was.. err… 6 months ago? anyway, i used a recipe from 52 resep kue populer sedap sekejap, and i don’t quite happy with the result. not that it failed. just not the sort of recipe i’d choose over other similar recipes. so i think i should look for other putu ayu recipes!
first big surprise of the day. i received a message from periplus, stating that they have twilight in store! yaay… even better, they said they also have eclipse in soft cover! oh yes! i quickly replied the SMS and ordered a copy of each books. yeah, the journey ends baby!! now all i need to do is sit back and read the whole stuff!

but that was nothing compared to the second and biggest surprise of the day. when i was in the kitchen, a mailman came and knocked at my front door. i hurriedly opened the door for me, and my heart was pounding. is this it? is it the package? *drumroll* i almost jumped and screamed hooray when the mailman asked “stephanie angela”? yesssss.. that’s meeee!!! and it IS the package i’ve been waiting for! Victoria Hart CDs sent by miss Victoria Hart herself! isn’t she sweet? *if you’re at lost, read this* the package contained Victoria Hart’s debut album, whatever happened to romance, and her latest EP, mood swings, and a postcard. i swear, she’s the sweetest, most humble person i’ve ever known. thank you sooo much for the package! a very big thanks to Victoria Hart, Geoff Gurd, Discrete Recordings, Royal Mail, Pos Indonesia, and every other people who have taken some time and effort to send and deliver the CDs!!

*sejujurnya gue sempet khawatir paketnya ga akan pernah sampe tujuan, atau gue harus bayar bea cukai yang mahal seamit-amit.. tau sendiri betapa resenya terkadang orang-orang indo… tapiiiiii…. gue lega banget karena paket diantaer ke rumah dalam keadaan selamat! dan gue ga perlu keluarin uang banyak.. cukup tiga ribu rupiah saja! yaaay… langsung gue melesat ke dalem rumah nyari dompet.. ternyata gue emang ga boleh berpikiran negatif duluan sebelum liat bukti nyatanya… ternyata pos indonesia bisa kasih pelayanan yang oke! makasi pak possssss!!*
at first, this blog was intended only as a journal, for personal consumption. i don’t mind if several friends read this.. but, to my surprise, it has gained attention from one of my favourite singers’ producer and the singer herself, the nicest one that is! i was already very happy to know she read my post, and even put some comments, then she sent me a copy of her albums… i’m flying to the moon..
as a continuation to this great day, i went to eX and grab my copy of twilight and eclipse. i had made plans to go there today, so the sms from periplus earlier today really coincides nicely with my plan. i took a visit to skinfood, and they have the new milk creamy nail color! i’ve been craving for the very cute bottle since i saw it on the sg website.. most of the colours are *obviously* milky. i bought a.. err.. what should i call this shade? it’s a shade of pink, but not quite that pink. confused? i’ll put it on my fingers later to clarify my impression of the colour. honestly i have almost forgotten the colour myself! haha.. i’ve too many shades of pink at my drawer now! i’m a bit dissapointed i didn’t try on the purple and blue ones! maybe they’ll look cute when worn
one turn-off is the price (42k), which is slightly more expensive than nail vita (25k). even though it isn’t that pricey, compared to OPI, but with an additional 8k, i could grab two bottles of nail vita!
the one and only dissapointment of the day is the fact that nyx didn’t live up to its promise to open up the store on mid may 2008. and it’s almost end of may!but nevermind that. i have too many pleasures in a day, it won’t wash away the smile i put on my face all day.
actually, there is another dissapointment, a minor one, and i would not give up to it and ruin my really happy mood. i bought TBS’ shea lip butter, simply because i love the smell of shea body butter, and i thought, i would also love the lip butter. turned out i was wrong. it felt like licking and eating the body butter! not a very cool sensation. and somehow it made me thirsty. not sure whether it was just my weird feeling taking control or something
but it does provide hydration. should apply less next time..
.:: purchases after purchases ::.
been a bit lazy writing anything about beauty lately, and these pics have sit on my cam for several weeks now, so here’s my recent purchases :
Caring Colours Lipsticks and Lip Gloss

surely you know that there’s an event called JFFF. and one of the biggest event you can find there is the beauty brands sale. anything under Martha Tilaar group is sold with a 20% discount, which made lots of women come and spoiled themselves in the booths. of course, this is something that i wouldn’t miss. i chose a Moisture Rich Lip Colour in True Love, and an Everlasting Lip Colour in Pink Romantic. but then i saw a package of three which would mean bigger discount. so i ended up with another item, a Evergloss Lip Colour in Melted Caramel. okay, so here’s my review.

* Moisture Rich Lip Colour
this is my third tube of this lipstick, so you can pretty much guess why i keep buying *i hardly ever finish a tube of lipstick. i just love it!! it has a sweet taste and a nice smell, and from three tubes that i’ve tried so far, all three colours suit my liking. at the center of the lipstick, sits a lip moisturizer, an extra bonus for women with dry lips. the packaging is simple, yet it’s pink! so i love it!
* Everlasting Lip Colour
i usually will say ‘no’ before you finish saying ‘matte’. but when i found this colour, i instantly fell in love. the colour were so gorgeous, and considering there’s a discount, i just have to have it. and i have no regrets. quite unbelivably, the formula doesn’t dry my lips. it enhances my lip colour and looks natural. thinking to grab another one, but i think i have enough lippies for now!
* Evergloss Lip Colour
i’ve had two other colours, and i must say, it’s quite decent. the colour selection is very poor – they only have 6 colours. i know, right? and it only lasts a while. but it’s decent for everyday wear. and cheap. so no complaints!
PAC Powder Eyeshadow No. 10

i was actually looking for Bourjois’ loose e/s in Bleu Swimming Pool, but it’s not available at the sogo counter! so i went to PAC instead, and found this powder e/s. it’s not exactly the same, but this is the best i could find. i’ve heard so many raves about this, so i thought, why not give a try. i’ve always loved green-turquoise-tosca anyway. i like the colour, although it’s a bit too bright for office wear, so i think i’ll just use it on weekends, then. and it comes in small jars, but considering it’s only an e/s, i think it’s gonna last forever…
Ciel Minerals Powder Foundation in Fairly Light

i know i said i wanted the Light one, but the Fairly Light works okay for me, and i haven’t really tried on the Light one, coz it fell on my first or second try. fortunately, the packaging is a lot better than the samples, shouldn’t be hard to put the lid on its place, so there’s less probability of falling down.
Courreges Eye Shadow

found this pallette last weekend when wondering aimlesly on the drugstore aisles. cute, it consist of a cream base, and two shades of eye shadow. ended up with blue-ish and green-ish ones. have only tried the blue one once. the base turns into a powdery texture and dries instantly once it touches your skin, and i don’t think it helps much as a base. and the e/s is so-so only, it’s not too pigmented or something. decent only. but i’ve only tried it once, so i probably am wrong.
UPDATE!!
i was wrong. have tried the green one, and i loooveee it!!! the colour is so cute… it’s pigmented enough for my liking, and i never thought i’d like this shades of green. but, it turns out to be great. and the creamy base is doing a decent job. i think i like this one better than the blue one. but will try put more effort with the blue one! i won’t give up that easily, you know..
Eye Shadow Brush

another drugstore finding. it’s just cute, so i bought it..
i know. this has got to stop at some point.. but sometimes a girl just can’t get enough of these stuff…
.:: drugstore diva::.
here comes the drugstore diva. as i went to mangdu and gading yesterday, i found some interesting products :
- rosary nail polish remover *yaay.. i can now go try my red nail lacquer ^_^
- dove fresh touch body lotion *i’m almost running out of my jergens ultra healing. so i grab this one since it has a fresh scent of cucumber and green tea. love this..
- vaseline advanced formula *in the hope that it does have an advanced formula and may give better result than my ordinary petroleum jelly*
- la tulipe eyeshadow base *i think there’s nothing to lose since it’s so inexpensive. update!! i love this! its balm-like texture gives a creamy base to my e/s and make it more pigmented and long-lasting.. and it’s only 20k!!
- la pensee cheek mousse *just because it was cute. despite the seemingly pigmented cream, it blends easily with my skin tone and looks natural and almost invisible ^_^’
- garnier self-heated mask *because i haven’t got the chance to try out skin food’s hot mask ^_^’ totally hate the it! it has a funky smell. eew… i couldn’t stand it so much that i washed it off soon after i put in on my face. a total nightmare…
not bad. all of these didn’t cost me too much damage, which is good, coz my wallet needs to rest sometimes ^_^
.:: peaches ::.

told you i wouldn’t be able to wait.. hahaha.. i went straight to ex yesterday to grab some skin food products. i bought a bottle of peach sake pore serum and honey glossy rouge lipstick, no 663. i’ve been looking for a peachy-orange lipstick, but haven’t found the right one. so when i found tsf lipstick in this sweet peach color, quite suitable to what i had in mind, and in an affordable price, i quickly grabbed them. xixi… and i also received a skin food membership card! yaay…
so far, i have only tried these products for only several times, last night, this morning, and just now. i think the serum is actually doing what it claims on the label *they have quite a lovely packaging* dries in an instant, it left my skin in a shine-free, soft powdery feel. and it smells nice too. the downside is, unlike other essence/serum/moisturizer, this serum didn’t give any hydrated and elastic feel that i’m concerned it will dry my skin if i use it continuously. i wonder if it’s okay if i use another hydrating serum or moisturizer at nights, and use this pore serum in the mornings. i’m afraid if i do, the serum will be useless and the pore-minimizing effect will be cancelled of by this other moisturizers *confused*
the honey glossy rouge lipstick has a pretty color both on the tube and on my lips. the end result is quite glossy since it carries some glitters. love the color. very pretty… but i’d love it more if it has a more hydrating formula. but my lips is not in its best condition as it is… i ought to try applying some lip balms before i put on this lipstick. the packaging is simple, yet pretty, especially with the cupid embellishments on top of the tube..
a banner in front of the store says i’ll get a 30% discount if i have a cleo card. hmm… should i apply for a year of subscription, just for the sake of discounts? i’m considering the pros and cons right now.. problem is, the banner also says the promo will end on may 31. and i’ve called cleo to find out when i shall receive my card if i apply for a subscription. and they say it will take a month *omg*
after i walked out of the store, i noticed several stores across skin food is being renovated, a huge space for the new face of the face shop and a smaller space for nyx cosmetics.. hmm, things get really interesting here at ex. i love nyx lip glosses.. i had one once *lip gloss with mega shine* and it has great color, nice taste, and it’s not pricey!! according to the signboards, nyx will be opened on mid-may, while tfs is supposed to be opened on early april.. err.. hello? it’s already mid-april.. but i’m most excited about nyx store. i hope they don’t mark the price up too high… it’ll be so unfair if they do.. let’s just hope they don’t *crossing my fingers*
i’ve checked nyx cosmetics and cherry culture websites, and i’m blown away by the rich variety of colors!! 96 colors for a single collection of lipstick! wow.. *jotting down a new wish list*
.:: the hysteria ::.
* and can you imagine having a lip balm that tastes just like your favourite Ben & Jerry ice cream! and packaged just like the BJ ice cream pint! this is certainly a guilt-free product to crave!
* or ones that taste like Hershey chocolate in vintage-inspired tins!
* E.L.F Cosmetics had me fell head over heels with the Earth Rose lip element. i’ve been dying to buy a peachy-orange lip gloss, since i saw carly smithson in yesterday’s performance of american idol. and this E.L.F lip element really got me! i think i need to go grab something in similar color this weekend, or else!
* and lots of high-end brands lip glosses in simple yet elegant tubes…
* and also korean products with packagings as cute as always…. but these korean products are the ones that i’d likely to buy coz they’re widely available here. hix.. i want those cute lip glosses and balms above…
and those are just to name a few!!
in addition, i’m really eager to try some mineral makeups.. they’re widely available in other countries, even middle and low-end brands carry mineral makeup products.. i don’t know whether they’re widely available here!! i’ve heard loreal indonesia had carried mineral makeups for a while.. gotta check them ^^ and i’ve found this website Ciel Minerals plus, they are willing to give free samples.. hmm.. this is a must try!
.:: beauty on a budget ::.
i’ve been meaning to buy a new compact powder, one which gives lighter and hence more natural feel to my skin. and having spent some time googling and researching some beauty products reviews, i’ve narrowed the choices down and decided to go with bourjois or etude. but i didn’t go to ta last weekend – i just love the etude booth in parisian, since they have a lot of products i couldn’t find elsewhere, and i’d prefer to buy etude products there – i went to check bourjois in sogo. to be honest, one of the main reason why i chose bourjois coz the packaging is so darn cute! i have to be honest, i’m one that easily falls for pretty and cute girly packaging! xixi.. i picked no 72, sable rose compact poedre, and i asked the beauty assistant if there was any promo. and they were actually having a buy one get one promo for hsbc cardholder! yaay…. it’s so great that they were having this promo, just when i wanted to buy something! so i decided to get an effet 3d lipgloss *i had spent spent some time wishing to buy it by now* i chose no 16, beige theoric. a girl can’t have too many nude lip glosses, right? ^^ actually there was another lip gloss that got my heart.. but i decided to go with the nude one.. the lipgloss was a bit thick, and as i said, nude. it only adds little colour to my lips, but gives a little plumping effect. i didn’t like the taste at first. but i’m used to it now ^^ and as for the compact poedre, it is light and gives a natural effect to my skin tone. i like the rose scent, which reminds me of crabtree & evelyn, though i don’t particularly love it. the only weakness is the super thin sponge. so far so good.. however, i have only tried it once, so i can’t say much. if it turns out to be great within a week, maybe i’ll get more of them, or maybe the pastel teint essentiel, before the promo ends. xixi…
Update!!!
After a week putting on these products, i think that the powder is just of so-so quality.. not so special or great, not bad either. it’s really lightweight though, which is good for daily wear. but even then i always manage to apply some foundie just so my face wouldn’t look too shiny, which i think gonna happen if i don’t. and as for the lip gloss, i’m totally lovin’ it… it’s thick, but not too thick, perfect, coz it’s long lasting, and when it dries up, it gives a somewhat natural gloss to my lips. and i always love brush applicators..
and i decided not to repurchase the powder before the promo ends, as my initial plan was, coz i’ve been thinking about buying other stuff.. and i bet i’ll find some other interesting compact powder to try when i’m finished with this one! xixi… geez, now i sound like a brainless superficial girl, aren’t i? well, fyi, i’m not.. xixixi…
